Tonebar Replating
I had my tonebars replated by Speakeasy with the nickel-chrome version:
I also had the tonebars in my Stage 54 replated:
To what extent did the replating help? It's difficult to say. I can say that I am extremely pleased with the sustain on this keyboard and have never played one with better sustain, at least not noticeably better. But that may just reflect my own experience.
I also added the Speakeasy tonebar clips to virtually all my treble tonebars. Not all needed them, but I wanted to give the keyboard every advantage I could with regard to sound.
A "great tech" might well be able to get sustain this good without either the replating or the clips, but I am not a "great tech" and am thus looking for every advantage I can find. It's really no more complicated than that.
